Personal Core Projects

What is Core?

Core is a game engine/platform created to make multiplayer game development easier.

Why am I using Core?

Since game development is streamlined, I can more rapidly prototype, test, and improve games that I make on the platform.

"One Night At Darvo's is a game made for CoreGame's "Spooky Jam", a game jam that ran through 10/9/2020 - 10/26/2020.

This game is a multiplayer "Five Nights at Freddy's" inspired game. This is an asymmetrical game where one team, the nightguards, must keep a look out at cameras and shut doors to prevent players from the opposing team, the animatronics, from getting too close.

This game was developed by a team of two. Me and a friend. I focused on creating the UI and game mechanics, while my friend focused on the environment, character art, and sound of the game.

A lot of the challenge for me when I created this game was finding ways to keep things properly synced between server and client. While not perfect, I tried a few strategies to keep things fast and consistent whilst making sure the game is still server dictated to prevent players from successfully hacking the game.

SABSIR (Sniper Alley But Something Isn't Right). Is a last man standing first person shooter, a modded version of Manticore's game "Sniper Alley." The mod made changes to the basic gameplay to change it from a fast, twitch shooter to a slower, more methodical game with focus on awareness, resource management, and strategy.

This was my second game created on the Core platform. I was still in an exploratory phase when creating the game. In order to gain familiarity, instead of trying to create a game from the ground up, I tried taking an already popular game and adding my own spin to it.

I struggled a bit with creating a gamestate manager, but with the help of the internet, I managed to make something that works fairly well and consistently.

Toilet Paper Panic

To Game

"Toilet Paper Panic" is a 3rd-person hoarding simulator. Players are tasked with grabbing as much toilet paper as possible. The player(s) with the most amount of toilet paper at the end of the 3 minute match will win. The game has a public test build.

"Toilet Paper Panic" is a solo project I work on in my free time. The game was made as a response to the COVID-19 crisis.
